Shojin

It may sound like an oxymoron but Shojin is an all vegan sushi restaurant. They also have many dishes that are gluten free, soy free, and/or nut free.

Review

Food

They serve, beer, wine and sake and feature a multi course tasting menu option. Their dishes are colorful, flavorful and actually healthy for you. The servers are always very attentive and friendly.  The desserts and extremely creative. The feature combinations of ingredients I would have never thought of and somehow it still always works.

Atmosphere

They have two locations. One is in Culver City and the other is in Downtown Los Angeles (Little Tokyo). We general go to the one in Little Tokyo since it is walking distance. The interior is small but still elegant. It is intimate and quiet enough to carry on a conversation. It’s not at all what you would expect from a place that is inside of a small shopping mall.

Service

The service is always extremely attentive. It is obvious that they take customer very serious. Drinks are always refilled right away and they check on each table frequently. The rolls sometimes take a while to come out but its well worth it for the quality of the food.

Conclusion

This has become one of my favorite vegan spots in Los Angeles. The update the menu often, so there is always something new and exciting to try. Stop by and be sure to try one of the awesome vegan rolls.
