Au Lac is an Asian fusion restaurant located in Downtown Los Angeles. I was stoked to find out that a high end vegan joint was opening downtown.
So far, we have been there three times. We’ve liked every dish that we’ve ordered. The menu is a combination of both raw and cooked dishes. They are all 100% plant based. They fondly refer to their innovative cuisine as “Humanese”. They also serve, beer, wine, and cocktails. The dishes are created by owner Mai and head Chef Ito. Ito does not speak due to the vow of silence that he took many years ago. Fortunately, the dishes speak for themselves.
The decor is very nice. It’s definitely upscale enough for a date night or a special occasion. The venue is fairly spacious with plenty of comfortable booths. The interior is much nicer that you would expect for the price point.
The service has been hit or miss as far as attentiveness. Nothing that would stop us from coming back. It sometimes takes a minute for a hostess to notice you standing by the door. Generally, everyone is friendly.
Au Lac is a must to check out whenever you are in the LA area.
